Scholarships are awarded to Indian River High School seniors and adult students at Delaware Technical and Community College. Since the inception of the Scholarship Fund in 2008, the chapter has awarded more than $60,000 in scholarships.

Two $1,500 scholarships will be awarded this year to Indian River High School seniors. The chapter also awards two $1,000 scholarships to nursing students and one $500 scholarship to a non-nursing student each semester at Delaware Technical Community College. Recipients must be 25 years or older.

Indian River High School

Applications are available to seniors in the guidance office at Indian River High School in the Spring of each year. The scholarships are awarded at the school’s annual Awards Night.

Delaware Technical Community College

Three scholarships are given each semester. Two $1,000 scholarships go to nursing students and one $500-scholarship goes to a non-nursing student.

Dine and Donate to Be Held November 12, 2025

at The Cottage Cafe in Bethany Beach, 11AM until 8 PM

Don’t forget the Dine and Donate event and basket auction to benefit our scholarship fund on Wednesday, Nov. 12, at the Cottage Café in Bethany Beach. Dining hours are from 11 a.m.to 8 p.m. with the drawing for the baskets at 7:30 p.m. There will also be a 50-50 cash raffle. If you win a basket or the cash raffle, we will call you and ask if you can come to the restaurant that evening to pick up the items you have won.
If you cannot attend the event on Nov. 12 but would like to contribute, you can send a check made out to South Coastal DE AARP, P.O. Box 225, Ocean View, DE 19975 with the word “Scholarship” in the memo line.
In 2025, we will give a total of $9,000 in scholarships—two $1,500 scholarships to Indian River High School students and $6,000 to adult students 25 years and older at Delaware Technical and Community College. Two of the Del-Tech scholarships are designated for nursing students, one scholarship goes to a student studying in a medical field, and an additional scholarship goes to a student studying in any area of study.
