Ann Jaeger, Chorus Director, Retires

Ann Jaeger Puts Down Baton

After founding and conducting the Singers of Note, the Chapter’s Chorus since 2000, Ann Jaeger will retire after the June 17 luncheon meeting concert.

The chapter will honor her at the meeting for all her years of service.

She has voluntarily directed the chorus and accompanied on piano for nearly 25 years, except for a break during COVID. Ann said, “It has been a wonderful experience and I have met wonderful people over the years.” The group started with 13 members and only sang two-part music in the beginning. Now the chorus consists of 30 members with a balance of soprano, alto, tenor and bass. A charter member, bass Garland Saville, is still singing with the group.

The chorus has practiced for two hours every Wednesday, except during the summer months and January, to prepare for multiple concerts in December and again in the spring. It performed for churches, civic groups, senior living facilities, the public, special occasion and twice a year for our local chapter.

Ann had extensive experience teaching music in schools and serving as a choral director in churches throughout her career before she and her husband Dave moved from New Castle County to Selbyville in 1999. The Jaegers now live at the Moorings in Lewes.

We all wish Ann and Dave, who assisted Ann with toting music and equipment over the years, a delightful real retirement! Ann, thank you so much.

The chorus is looking for a new director and accompanist. Anyone who is interested should call Ann at 302-645-8023.
